Dental Health Camp

Dental camp on 17th Oct, 2015 at Patiala, India to create awareness on oral hygiene and improve the overall oral health. Camp will be attended by around 400 children.

We the Guardians of the Voiceless (GOV) are thrilled and fortunate to be connected with lovely kids like you. You’re our love and the reason we’re smiling. Please accept our sincere greetings for the incoming holidays of “Dussehra, Dipawali and Bhai Dooj.” This is a time to have fun and stay jovial! A time we all love to eat all of our favorite methai, biscuits, toffees, cake, etc. You should thank your parents for bringing the yummy methai, and making you smile during this festive season.

But, talking about smiles, don’t you think your smile should be as beautiful as you? I bet the answer is yes! A smile is the best makeup one can wear. You can easily make a perfect first impression, by just wearing a smile. Whenever you smile, people see you as an approachable person. You can wear the brightest clothes, have the brightest face, but without a smile, your look isn’t complete. No matter the situations you may be in, you should try to smile. A smile is the best accessory that one shouldn’t forget to showcase.

Most people fail to flaunt their smile with grace and confidence because of the yellow stains on their teeth. These stains can be caused by several factors such as poor dental hygiene, excessive consumption of soft drinks, and the consumption of sugary food. Many of these factors that cause teeth decay, and discoloring can be prevented if we take the necessary precautions early enough. We have often found kids and teenagers avoiding the oral hygiene during the festive seasons. You often get so involved in the celebration of the festivities that you tend to skip your dental routines. But, you usually don’t realize that, you aren’t cleaning the biscuits, chocolates, and other sweets that are stuck in your teeth. The cavities may be dancing on the top of your teeth at this point.

Nothing can make you look more beautiful, than a smile. Thus, you should always smile, no matter whatever the situation is. You should promise yourself to go face all of the challenges, concentrate on your studies and become a responsible citizen of the country. No matter how much difficulty you have to go through, never let your beautiful smile, leave your beautiful face.

Important tips to keep your smile healthy and bright!

Whether you are eating methai, chocolate, cakes, biscuits, ice creams, or toffees, you are consuming sugar. According to the experts, the naturally occurring bacteria in our mouth, eat up this sugar and the by product of this is the formation of acid. Thus, the more time your teeth remain exposed to the sugar, the higher your chances of getting dental problems. Sweets like hard or sticky toffees, methai, cakes, and biscuits can even have detrimental effects on your teeth.


Here are some easy tips to help you stay away from the oral health issues:

  • Brush twice a day. The best time to brush is after meals. However, if you’ve consumed anything acidic, you should avoid brushing your teeth for at least 30 minutes. For better results; brush thoroughly for about two to three minutes.
  • Choose a brush with softer bristles to avoid injuring your gum while brushing.
  • Use fluoridated toothpaste to help harden the tooth enamel, and reduce the risk of tooth decay.
  • Toothbrushes should be changed after every three months, because after this period their effectiveness reduces.
  • Avoid sucking on hard toffees for a long period of time.
  • Consume limited amount of soda or juice, as these tend to wash over your gums. It’s best to brush your teeth after consuming any such liquid.
  • Use straws while having beverages, as that minimizes the exposure of your teeth enamel to the sugar.
  • In situations where you cannot brush your teeth immediately after the consumption of sticky sweets, make sure to drink water, or to chew a sugarless gum. Sugarless gums can boost your saliva production, which can effectively wash away the sugar.
  • Instead of having sweets separately after the consumption of your meal, you should rather incorporate them as a part of your meal. The other healthier foods that are a part of your meal, will not only help to remove the sweets from the teeth, but, they can even neutralize the acid which might occur due to the consumption of the sugar.
  • After brushing your teeth, use a fluoridated anti-cavity mouthwash.
  • If you do not get the chance to brush your teeth before going to sleep, make sure to drink a lot of water and gargle before going to bed.
  • It’s also very important to see a dentist for regular checkups to avoid getting dental problems.
